What's the difference between a interurban and a normal RR?

Stuff built for a normal railroad tends to have to pull significantly more and also tend to have different design/conventions than interurban electrics for example

Cause it's known as the Sacramento Northern Railway and Railroad, and it ended up just becoming a normal railroad post 1941 when it stopped running interurban service

But that is still an interurban albeit a freight only one

So that mean's the South Shore's Little Joes should go in here too since the South Shore was an interurban (edited)

The the Milwaukee Road ones used a significantly higher voltage than the south shore ones

The South Shore ones just halved the voltage was all

Mainline electrics in most cases (the NYC being an exception) use higher voltages than interurbans
